Micro-Channel products use the same tools and instruments to install and service as a tube-in-fin system. However, never use “rule-of-thumb” practices for charging, airflow and refrigerant measurement. This could lead to preventable callbacks. “Rules” are just loose guidelines – they do not lead to accurate installs for any system. And, any “rule” is likely based on a tube-in-fin system with less efficient heat transfer and greater refrigerant requirements. Micro-Channel coils use less refrigerant; therefore, it’s important to have the correct tools and follow all of the manufacturer’s instructions. Each of the following steps provide quick advice for you to use while working on a Micro-Channel system.
